DIGITAL VIDEO EVOLUTION; THREAT TO TRADITIONAL MEDIA?

Have you realized that these days more production houses, television presenters and content providers are shifting from the traditional platforms of content consumption?

Have you realized that you hardly watch television these days?

Have you realized that we are getting Jaded and dog tired of the same foreign contents and repetitiously unvaried local materials on our screens?

Have you realized that despite the afore mentioned, television stations and other media houses still charge extortionate amounts from individuals and film makers in the bid to air their good contents ?

What the acclaimed big media players DONT REALIZE is that there is a big transitioning happening all over the globe and that is the new VIDEO EVOLUTION.

Video began to emerge as a popular content choice with the debut of YouTube in 2005. The video sharing platform allowed users to experiment with self-produced content, which led to a new era of self-appointed influencers. From makeup tutorials to viral “Gangnam style” dance crazes, YouTube proves that just about anyone or anything can “go viral” on the Internet. Now, the channel sees more than 4 billion daily views and has more than 1 billion users worldwide.

People are now opting for viewing a Facebook live video or a snap chat or Instagram seconds videos which are now Kings on social media. Facebook has embraced this culture and now we are being bombarded with videos every time we visit our news feed and we predict the tech company Paying creators on the Facebook platforms anytime soon as they have started with some highly engaged contents.

Let’s take Youtube for Example.

Each year millions of dollars are being paid to creators and content providers on YouTube through the google Adsense program. Surprisingly you don’t even need to pay a dime to register and there is no hosting or domain charges. All you need to do is what you do everyday, keep sharing your contents with friends and loved ones and encourage them to subscribe to assist building your channel. That’s just 10% of how much you can earn from monetizing your hard worked contents digitally. There are numerous choices like referral programs, paid contents, products review and many other ways of making profits out of your online videos.

In Ghana the story is not different,we are gradually shifting from traditional activities to the Digital realms as we have over 8 million users on the internet with the tech industry growing and expanding rapidly. Unlike few years ago companies are now budgeting for digital Marketing as we have chanced on either ideal milk or verna Mineral Water running a Sponsored ad with in stream videos on YouTube or Facebook.

Big thanks to Guys like Digital Training Ghana and the national youth Authority who have seen the big picture and now training the youth to take advantage of the holy grail presented by the Modern tech know how. The gate way is here and that is tech, Tech is the future and the future is Internet I don’t need to bother you with the accomplishments of E commerce, Mobile Applications, Social Media and other digital developments of our age.

The progress of technology generally evokes a range of emotions in people from all walks of life. Some see technology as a great evil that slowly diminishes our humanity, while others view it as a way to bring the world closer together and to help solve some of our greatest challenges. Regardless of your point of view, there is no doubt that since the cradle of mankind this is the era where humanity has experienced oneness and closeness ever. Embrace tech and love the dynamism it comes along with.
